The Saga of India's Supremacy Over Pakistan In World Cups Continues: India 6 Pakistan 0

India defeated Pakistan by 76 runs to register its sixth consecutive victory over the arch rivals in World Cups, and hence India's saga of undefeated supremacy over the neighbor continues.

India won the toss and decided to bat first. After losing the first wicket of Rohit Sharma cheaply, Dhawan and Kohli stood their ground and compiled a 129 runs partnership. One more hundred runs partnership came between Kohli and Raina after Dhawan got run out for 73. Soon, Virat Kohli scored his 22nd century and put India in a commanding situation. But when a score of 325 seemed an easy proposition, Indian batting collapsed after the departure of Kohli and the Indian innings was concluded at exactly 300 runs.

Pakistan began its innings somewhat like the Indians but wickets kept falling at regular and partnership were hard to find. Apart from the 68 runs partnership between Haris Sohail (36)     Ahmed Shehzad (26), no other batsmen could manage a single 50 runs partnership. Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq was the highest scorer for Pakistan with 76 against his name.

Mohammad Shami took 4 wickets for 35 runs and was complimented well by other two seamers Umesh Yadav and Mohit Sharma, both took 2 wickets each. Ashwin and Jadeja were also pretty decent and shared 1 wicket each between them.

Virat Kohli was adjudged man of the match for his heroic 107 runs innings.

Pakistan till date has not been able to defeat India in World Cups; the rivalry between the two nations started way back in 1992 where Indian defeated Pakistan by 43 runs in Sydney, Australia.      

India Will Host The ICC World T20 2016

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has declared that the ICC World T20 championship 2016 will be held in India between 11 March and 13 April. The announcement was made after the ICC held a meeting at its headquarters in Dubai. The schedule for the ICC events during the period 2016-2019 was released.

The qualifiers for the event will be hosted by Ireland and Scotland between 6 and 26 July 2015.

England will host three ICC events in the next four-year period. In 2017, England will host the ICC Champions Trophy from June 1 to June 19, and the Women's World Cup from August 4 to August 27; in 2019, it will host the ICC World Cup between May 30 and July 15. The last time England hosted the Champions Trophy, it managed to go until the finals where it was defeated by the Indian team led by MS Dhoni.

The first ever ICC World T20 championship was won by India in 2007 when it defeated Pakistan by 5 runs; the last iteration of the tournament was won by Sri Lanka, it defeated India by six wickets in Bangladesh.

MS Dhoni Announces Retirement From Test Cricket, Virat Kohli To Lead India At SCG

Mahendra Singh Dhoni has announced his retirement from test cricket after India managed to draw the third Test at the MCG today. He has said that the "strain of playing all formats of the game" has taken its toll on him has forced him to take such decision. Virat kohli will lead the Indian team at SCG in the fourth and final fixture of the tournament in Australia.

Dhoni didn't announce his decision either during the post-match presentation ceremony or in the press briefing after the game concluded. His decision came in from of a BCCI Tweet, which said, "MS Dhoni has chosen to retire from Test Cricket with immediate effect, Virat (Kohli) will be the captain for the 4th and Final Test against Australia."

Wriddhiman Saha will take Dhoni's place in the fourth match of the series at Sydney.

BCCI has issued a statement that says MS will now concentrate on ODIs and T20s. This to many cricket pundits has come as surprise as most of the senior cricketers let the shorter formats of the game to carry their careers in the Test cricket.

"One of India's greatest Test Captains under whose leadership India became the No. 1 team in the Test Rankings MS Dhoni, has decided to retire from Test Cricket citing the strain of playing all formats of Cricket," the statement said.

Dhoni's Test match record lately has not been that good, though. India has been whitewashed in Australia and in England in 2011-2012. The team has also been defeated by South Africa and by a much weaker opposition New Zealand.

Dhoni has played 90 test matches for India and has scored 4876 runs at an average of 38; he has scored 6 centuries and 33 half centuries. He made his test debut in 2005 against Sir Lanka.

He took the captaincy from Rahul Dravid in 2007 and has led the country in 60 fixtures ever since. In those 60 matches India has won 27 lost 18 and 15 have been draws.

It was under his captaincy that India won the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup.

Former Australian captain Mark Taylor says Virat Kohli knows what it takes to succeed on Australian turfs. The veteran batsman says the young Indian player marshalled his troops in really commendable fashion and knows how to play in Australia.  

The hosts won the first encounter by 49 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the four match test series.

Virat was the stand-in captain in the first test, his first venture in the longer format of the game. MS Dhoni is expected to take the captain's charge from here on.

Kohli, became the fourth Indian batsman to score centuries in both innings of a test match. "I remember speaking with him before the first day's play (at Adelaide) and he knows what it is like to play in Australia," Taylor said after the conclusion of the first test in Adelaide.

"He knows you have to stand up for yourself and be prepared to compete in the middle. He has done that not just with his captaincy but also with his bat. I liked the fact that they went for the debutant Karn Sharma in the XI thinking that leg-spinners do well here," he further added.

Adelaide Oval seems to be his favorite ground in Australia as it was here he scored his first century down under in his first tour in 2012. He scored 116.
