Chopper Crashes in Northern Pakistan, Kills Four Foreign Envoys

A Pakistani Chopper crashed today in a mountainous part of northern Pakistan, killing six people including the Philippine and Norwegian ambassadors and the wives of the ambassadors of Malaysia and Indonesia, the army have informed the media.

Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif was travelling to the mountainous northern region of Gilgit in a separate plane to inaugurate two projects when the accident took place. The PM is safe; the PMO has let the media know.   

Asim Bajwa, military spokesperson, confirms the incident in his twitter post, which said that four foreigners along with two pilots were killed in the accident. He said the ambassadors of Poland and the Netherlands were among the injured.

It has been know that around 11foreigners were on board the MI-17, which crashed into a school in Gilgit and caught fire.

The Pakistani Taliban (TTP) said they were behind the attack, but there is no confirmation of the claim. But one thing is for sure that the effort of the Pakistan government to promote the tourism in the country has been pushed to the wall as the fleet was going to attend the opening of a tourism project.
