Punjab and Haryana High Court Will Today Hear the Moga Molestation Case

The Punjab and Haryana High court will today hear the attempted rape and subsequent death of the 13-year-old girl in Punjab's Moga district. 

The court has taken suo motu cognizance of a letter regarding the case, in which the girl lost her life after being thrown off arunning bus by the molesters.

In the meanwhile, the situation in the Moga district seems to have cooled-down a little as the victim's family members cremated the dead body of the girl after the autopsy was done.    

The cremation was conducted in the girls native village Landikay in Moga district. Angry people gathered around the cremation ground in huge number and shouted anti-government slogans.

The victim's family has been given Rs 20 lakh as compensation.

The 13-year-old girl was thrown out of a Moga-Bhatinda bus along with her mother after they resisted molestation attempt.

It should be noted that the bus in which the incident took place belongs to the Orbit Transport Company which is owned by Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal
