India Will Host The ICC World T20 2016

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has declared that the ICC World T20 championship 2016 will be held in India between 11 March and 13 April. The announcement was made after the ICC held a meeting at its headquarters in Dubai. The schedule for the ICC events during the period 2016-2019 was released.

The qualifiers for the event will be hosted by Ireland and Scotland between 6 and 26 July 2015.

England will host three ICC events in the next four-year period. In 2017, England will host the ICC Champions Trophy from June 1 to June 19, and the Women's World Cup from August 4 to August 27; in 2019, it will host the ICC World Cup between May 30 and July 15. The last time England hosted the Champions Trophy, it managed to go until the finals where it was defeated by the Indian team led by MS Dhoni.

The first ever ICC World T20 championship was won by India in 2007 when it defeated Pakistan by 5 runs; the last iteration of the tournament was won by Sri Lanka, it defeated India by six wickets in Bangladesh.
