Manoj Vashishtha encounter: Rajnath Singh Assures the Family of a Fair Probe into the Incident

The family members of Manoj Vashishtha who was killed in a police encounter last week here in Delhi, have met the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. Singh has given them an assurance that the alleged encounter will be thoroughly probed.

Priyanka, the wife of the deceased, has said, "The Home Minister assured us that he has given directions for the formation of an SIT for the case and that the post mortem will also be video graphed. He also assured us that justice will be done, we are satisfied." 

Earlier, the Delhi government ordered a magisterial inquiry into the alleged encounter that led to the demise of Manoj. 


Manoj was shot-dead last Friday night in an encounter with the Delhi Police personnel. The incident took place at the Sagar Ratna Restaurant in Delhi's Rajender Nagar locality.

We Know Where is Dawood Ibrahim: Rajnath Singh

After getting  embarrassed on the issue of the absconding terrorist and 1992 Mumbai bomb blast accused Dawood Ibrahim, the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh yesterday said that there is no confusion about his whereabouts. He said that he would soon speak about it in the Parliament.

He spoke to the media persons on the sidelines of a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) program, he said, 'There is no confusion about the man. We know where he is." He said that he wanted to give an official statement in the Parliament. He further said, "Let’s see, I might give about it on Monday at the floor of Rajya Sabha."

On Tuesday, the government had to face huge embarrassment when the Home Minister for State Hribai Prthybai Chowdhury in a written statement said that the government is not aware of the whereabouts of India's most wanted terrorist. As soon as the government finds that out, the process of extradition would be initiated.

The Parliament saw much hullabaloo on the issue on Wednesday. The leader of opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad accused the BJP led government at the center of tarnishing the country's image by saying that it does not know the whereabouts of Dawood.


Azad further said, "Our intelligence agencies, working all quarters of the world, are aware of his residence and whereabouts. Pakistan has been told to hand him over to India so that the legal actions can be taken against Ritabrt Banerjee, Tapan Kumar Sen, Sitaram Yechury all of CPM, and Pawan Kumar Verma of JD-U and several other members of the House urged the Home Minister to give a response on the subject. Union Home Minister for State Kiran Rijiju told the opposition that the government is keeping a close watch on the subject.

Four Pakistani Rangers Killed In Retaliatory Action Of BSF At The Border In J&K

Four Pakistani rangers were killed in a strong retaliatory action of BSF after a jawan of the force was killed in heavy firing from the other side along the International border in J&K's Samba district.

The BSF's retaliatory action came after the home ministry told the armed to force to give a befitting reply to any unprovoked offensive.The BSF's counter offensive forced the Pakintani rangers to wave white flags.

Today's firing from Pakistan, which injured one jawan is the second violation of ceasefire along the international border in 24 hours.

"We have retaliated effectively to the Pakistani firing, in which four Pakistani rangers have been killed (opposite to Regal post) along the IB in Samba sector this evening," Rakesh Sharma, BSF IG of Jammu Frontier told the media. 

He further said that as the Pak rangers suffered casualties, they waved white flags requesting the Indian forces to stop firing so that they can pick the dead bodies up.

"Honoring their request we stopped the firing and allowed them to come to the border line and lift the bodies," he said adding, "firing along the border line has now stopped".

In the morning the rangers targeted a BSF patrol party by starting firing unannounced. This offensive killed one Indian jawan and one other was injured. The deceased has been identified as Constable Sri Ram Gowria, the IG informed.

Earlier the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had asked the BSF to give a befitting reply when the paramilitary force's Director General DK Pathak briefed him about the ongoing situation in J&K frontier.

"The Home Minister asked the DG, BSF to provide a suitable and appropriate reply for any such unprovoked firing," an official statement was released today in Delhi.

Earlier today, the defense minister Manohar Parrikar has told the armed forces to provide the enemy with a reply with "double the force," and they should not hold back.
