8 killed, Several Injured in a Train Tractor Collision in Uttar Pradesh

At least eight people are feared dead and several injured in an accident when a tractor trolley collided with a passengertrain today early morning. The accident happened at an unmanned railway crossing on Najibabad Kotdwar road near Samirpur in Bijnor.

The reports confirm that four people died on the spot, while the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital where they are undergoing treatment.

"The train was going from Najibabad to Kotdwar, it collided with the tractor at Semapur level crossing. Three people died on the spot, 23 injured were taken to Semapur hospital. 19 people were referred to district hospital, one died in this hospital and the other three are under treatment," said Shailendra Lal, a police official.

In the meanwhile, the state government has announced Rs 2 lakh as compensation to the family of each deceased and Rs 50 thousand to each one of the injured.

Seven Killed In A Train-Vehilce Accident On the Metro-North Railroad Near New York

At least seven people died and more than a dozen were injured on Tuesday when a packed Metro-North commuter train hit a vehicle at a level crossing north of New York City (NYC). 

The train having 800 people on board crashed into a Jeep Cheroke near Valhalla, situated 200 miles away from NYC. Among the seven deceased, six were train passengers and the seventh fatality was the female driver of the Jeep, a train official has informed.  

The crash happened around 7PM last evening when the gates at the two-track Commerce Street crossing near Valhalla came down on top of the Jeepstopped at the tracks. The driver got out of the vehicle to look at the damages done, and got in before the train struck it. The vehicle was dragged for more than 120 meters. 

Metro-North is the second-busiest railroad in the US, around 280000 passengers travel between New York and Connecticut everyday using this route.

Metro-North is not new to accidents, around five accidents happened here between 2013 and 2014.

The National Transportation Safety Board has tweeted that it is sending a 'go team' to look into the collusion.
