Huge Amount of Fire Arms Recovered from Poonch District of Jammu and Kashmir

The Jammu and Kashmir police forces have recovered arms and ammunitions from the border forest area in Poonch district of the state.  

Additional Superintendent of Police, Amit Kumar has told the media, "There were many inputs from the intelligence agencies. So, we established a grid along with the army. There is a general forest area at the border and we recovered these arms and ammunitions from there only."

Government Has Chalked An Action Plan To Do Away With The 17% Shortage Of Officers In The Armed Forces

There is a shortage of 17% officers in the Indian armed forces, and the government has plans to fill all the vacancies in 10 years of time, the defense minister Manohar Parrikar has said.

During the Question Hour today, the minister said that the government has plans to hire additional 1% officers every years and in the coming 10 years the aforementioned problem will be sorted out.

He mentioned that the appointment of officers through the Short Service Commission is also being scrutinized, and the present policy of hiring and retaining them for 14 years might be altered.   

He also told the house that in Army and Navy, the recruitment of personnel, below the ranks of officers, will be done in proportion to the Recruitment Male Population (RMP) of the states.

"RMP factor for each state is computed in the case of Army and a Naval Recruitment Index is computed for each state in the case of Navy. In case of Air Force and Armed Forces Medical Services, recruitment is not based on RMP," he said. He further spoke, "as RMP policy gives fair and equitable representation to all states, there is no discrimination among states."
