Senior BSP leader Haji Yaqoob
Qureshi has said that he is willing to give INR 51 Crores to the terrorists who
bombed the office of Charlie Hebdo yesterday, the butchers killed 12 including
two cops and 4 of the most famous cartoonists of France.
“Rasul ke ashiq unhe saza de dete
hai (lovers of the religion punish the culprits)," the former UP minister
told the media. He was reacting to the liberal clerics' view that real Islam
has no place for violence.
“Those who dare insult Prophet
Mohammed deserve death and there is no need to initiate legal procedure against
them.” The leader said that the Prophet only taught the lessons of love and
peace.
Mr Qureshi's remark, in 2006,
about rewarding the person with 51 crore rupees who would kill the Danish
cartoonist who had created the controversial cartoon of Prophet Mohammed,
brought him to the headlines. He made this offer at a public rally in Meerut
district of the state.
His current remarks will surely
make the police raise the eyebrows. Additional DGP of Uttar Pradesh Mukul Goel
said, “We can initiate action against him only after examining his statement
under the purview of law.”
The French magazine came in the
limelight in the year 2006 when it republished the cartoons of Prophet Mohammed
that had originally appeared in a Danish newspaper.
As far as Mr Qureshi is concerned,
he is not new to controversy.
