Social activist and
anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare will sit on a protest at the Jantar Mantar
from today against the ordinance on the Land Acquisition Bill.
Yesterday, he appealed the
government to take the ordinance back as it is against the welfare of the
farmers of the country. He urged the government to find new ways to improve the
condition of the farmer.
A group of farmers started a
march on Friday from Palval, Haryana and will reach Jantar Mantar today to join
the movement of Anna Hazare and try to pressurize the government to take back
the amendments made to the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement
Act, 2013.
Earlier, Hazare lambasted the BJP
government for passing such an ordinance that was against the farmers and
enabled the government to take land from the farmers without their consent.
When Anna sat on a dharna protest
last time two years ago at the same venue, the central government had to run
for cover and was badly shaken. The entire nation came in support of Hazare.
People from various regions of the country came out on the roads to show
support to the movement. Leaders like Arvind Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi are
considered the by-products of the movement.
