India Successfully Test-fires Prithvi II Surface-to-surface Missile

India today successfully test-fired Prithvi-II, a surface-to-surface missile with a strike range of 350 km as part of a user trial by the army from a test range at Chandipur, Odisha. This indigenously developed missile is capable of carrying 500 to 1000 Kg of warheads; it can carry nuclear warhead as well. The missile can be thruster by liquid propulsion twine engines.

Prithvi II uses advance internal guidance system with manoeuvring trajectory.

The missile test was carried out from a mobile launcher from launch complex-3 of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at about 9:20 AM this morning. The last user trial of the missile was successfully conducted on 14 November 2014 from the same test range.
