After winning the toss, captain
MS Dhoni elected to bat first. India managed to pile up a mammoth total of 307
in the allotted 50 overs for the loss of seven wickets. The chief architect of India's huge total was
Shikhar Dhawan who made a scintillating 137 off 146 balls. Rahane and Kohli
gave him good support with their 79 and 46 run innings respectively.
The Proteas innings was looking
off-color from the very start. In order to keep-up with the high required run
rate, opener De Kock departed early. After that Amla was caught at the square
leg fence, trying to pull Mohit Sharma for a six. South Africa was 2 for 40.
The partnership between AB de
Villiers and Fuf du Plessis took them to 108. After the unfortunate run out of
captain de Villiers, the entire batting line-up collapsed and the Proteas were
bundled out for 177.

Shikhar Dhawan was adjudged man
of the match.
