World Cup: India Lambasts South Africa By 130 Runs At The Melbourne Cricket Ground

India Defeats South Africa By 130 runs India has defeated South Africa by a huge margin of 130 runs at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. It was India's second match in the world.

After winning the toss, captain MS Dhoni elected to bat first. India managed to pile up a mammoth total of 307 in the allotted 50 overs for the loss of seven wickets.  The chief architect of India's huge total was Shikhar Dhawan who made a scintillating 137 off 146 balls. Rahane and Kohli gave him good support with their 79 and 46 run innings respectively.

The Proteas innings was looking off-color from the very start. In order to keep-up with the high required run rate, opener De Kock departed early. After that Amla was caught at the square leg fence, trying to pull Mohit Sharma for a six. South Africa was 2 for 40.

The partnership between AB de Villiers and Fuf du Plessis took them to 108. After the unfortunate run out of captain de Villiers, the entire batting line-up collapsed and the Proteas were bundled out for 177.

India defeats South Africa by 137 runsAshwin took 3 wickets for 41 runs, while Sharma and Shami took two wickets each. Jadeja also bowled pretty economically and took one for 37. Two batsmen got run out.


Shikhar Dhawan was adjudged man of the match.
