According to the researchers, the
discarded laptop batteries have so much juice left in them that they can light
your household for one year or so.
Computer company IBS has
conducted a research that tested such batteries which were not good for laptop
usage.
The examination showed that 70%
of those batteries had ample juice in them to light an LED bulb for four hours a
day, for an entire year.
This research was conducted this
year in Bangalore, India.
The cheapest alternative
Researchers are of the opinion
that this technology is cheaper than any of the existing options of creating
cost effective lighting. They also say that heavy usage of the same will bridle
the e- wastage as well, which has become a big nuisance to the developing
countries these days.
Even the solar energy is a relatively
costlier alternative to power. Researchers are expecting that this novelty will
definitively help those 40 crore Indians who don't have access to the
conventional means of electricity.
